The Capital Challenge Walk MS is going green!  This year we're asking all participants to please bring your own water bottle(s) to the event.  Visit our water bottle refill stations throughout the weekend to stay happy and hydrated.

Details about the Capital Challenge Walk MS:

WHAT:
The Capital Challenge Walk MS is an endurance challenge hosted by the National MS Society. The event will raise funds to end multiple sclerosis (MS), increase public awareness of the disease, and promote health and fitness. Participants commit to a fundraising minimum before making a life-changing journey of 50 kilometers over 2 days, helping bring us closer to a cure for MS! The Capital Challenge Walk MS is expected to host several hundred walkers and volunteers and raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to support local chapter programs and services, as well as national research initiatives.

We'll be there with you every step of the way during this life-changing journey.

WHEN:
October 3 and 4, 2009 

Anticipation at the finish line

WHERE:
The Capital Challenge Walk MS route is will take participants through the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and end at the U.S. Capitol in an incredible demonstration of strength and unity. For the safety of the participants, the exact route will not be released to the public prior to the event. 

HOW: 
Walkers can register by:
1. Completing the online registration form
2. Attending a free "Explore the Challenge" meeting or social event (upcoming meetings will be posted on our website as they are scheduled)
3. By calling the Society at 1-800-FIGHT-MS

REGISTRATION:
Each Capital Challenge Walk MS participant is asked to submit a non-refundable registration fee and raise a minimum of $1,500. Registrants have the option to be assigned a Challenge Mentor to provide fundraising coaching and help them achieve their goals.

People of all levels of ability are encouraged to come out and join the fun while supporting the thousands of people who live daily with the challenges and uncertainties of multiple sclerosis. Everyone who participates walks away with a life-changing experience!

AGE RESTRICTIONS:

  • All participants must be at least 12 years of age.
  • All participants under the age of 18 must have a signed and notarized waiver on file with the Chapter. Please remember to sign, notarize, and bring to event check-in.
  • All participants below the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/responsible adult (at least 21 years of age) at all times, including in SAG vehicles.
